British Fashion doll “Lottie” has captured the attention of hundreds of mums in Australia. Following a surge of positive press coverage, Lottie is apparently now one of the most in-demand Christmas gifts.
Unlike other dolls on the market, Lottie, which was launched in August, is a fashion doll specifically made for girls who are three to nine-years-old. The doll, which won a total of nine awards both in the UK and US, is described as “childlike.”
Lottie was made to reflect the average proportions of a nine-year-old girl; free from high heels, scanty clothes, make up, jewellery, and tattoos. Indeed, it’s a girl doll intended for girls.
Lottie perfectly represents young girls as she is not perfect. In fact, she makes lots of mistakes but she learns from them. She also loves going on adventures and uses her imagination. Her motto is; ‘Be Bold. Be Brave. Be You.’
Sara Wright, co-founder of Australian parenting website babiesandtoddlers.com.au said: “I cannot believe how many visitors we are getting and how many emails I have received asking where else people can buy a Lottie Doll for Xmas.
“Please email us when you get any more info about Australia distribution as we have a lot of people asking to be kept in touch.”
Lottie was developed by Arklu, a startup company whose co-founders are Ian Harkin and Lucie Follett, over the course of 18months doing research.
This involved not only children but also industry experts and parents as well.
Key issues that are understood to have been considered include; girls developing a negative perception of body image, and girls missing out on their childhood.
The creation of Lottie addresses these issues while at the same time, promising girls a refreshing alternative doll.
The complete range of Lottie™ dolls and accessories are available online for UK and Europe delivery at lottie.com and amazon.co.uk. Dolls retail at £16.99 GBP.
