Live Streaming Of Home Sale
A homeowner in east London attempts to sell her home via Facebook to avoid sky-high agent fees.
20:58 21 June 2017
Shanty Helim, a homeowner from Rainham in east London, will attempt to sell her home via Facebook in a bid to cut the cost of sky-high estate agent fees. In the process, she will sell her property with a viewing on Facebook live with offers made through the Facebook Messenger app. She will provide a virtual tour of her home and answer questions in the comment section on the stream.
She said: “Arranging a viewing over Facebook Live seemed to me the perfect way to allow potential purchasers to ask me questions, look around the house, and make an offer, in a much more convenient way.”
Traditional estate agent fees can cost at least £4,000. However, there are online agents that charge a flat fee of around £500 but their services are limited.
Shanty’s three-bed, semi-detached home is currently valued at between £470,000 and £475,000. The property has one bathroom, a garden and a driveway. Two floors are spread over 1,351 square feet.
The house is being sold at 2pm on Thursday June 22 via Housesimple, an online estate agent that offers valuation and management of sale for a fixed £595 fee.
