On 6 of August, traces of cryptosporidium were discovered at the Franklaw water treatment works near Preston. Since then, more than 300,000 homes in Lancashire had to boil drinking water. This will be the second week after a company spokesman confirmed that the ban remained.
However, latest test results showed reduced traces of the microbial parasite in water. Still, restrictions will stay in place until the water is 100% cleared from parasites.
A United Utilities spokesman said the company are testing the water every day and that customers will receive compensation for the incident although the amount has not been specified.
The areas affected include Blackpool, Chorley, Fylde, Preston, South Ribble, Wyre and the Mellor area of Blackburn.
