Kodi Targets Illegal Streaming

In order to save money on cable fees and in turn aiding the industry of piracy to make millions, more people are turning to illegal live streaming.

The appeal of watching live sports or new television series for free has, over time gained international appeal.  

 

People partaking in this illegal activcity are costing the TV industry billions of pounds and helping pirates in their illegal activity.

 

Sandvine, produced a report which noted how 6.5% of American households are streaming pirated TV monthly.  This could cause the TV providers to lose $4 billion in revenue .

 

It is estimated that approximately a quarter of the  British public access pirated TV.

 

Kodi developers are attempting to deter people from using the boxes to stream illegally, by creating apps that can spy on user activity.  If a user uses an add on, this can be spotted and a flashing warning message will display until the item is removed.
