The Knowsley Estate and Ion Developments have moved forward with their plans for a hi-tech industrial park and have submitted a planning application for the 23-hectare Earsfield Park Development. The development will include a 40-acre employment park, which is hoped to bring hundreds of jobs to residents. It will also include a pub/restaurant, a petrol station, a hotel and 160 new homes, which will sit next to the Lord Derby Playing Fields and Oak Plantation.
Steve Parry, managing director of Ion Developments, said: “The employment park is an important focus of this development.
“With the launch of the Knowledge Quarter, Liverpool and Merseyside is set to become UK leaders in the field of science and technology innovation. Our vision for Earlsfield Park is that it is instrumental in supporting the regional direction by becoming a specialist environment that supports science, technology and advanced manufacturing.
“The beauty of the development is not just in its location and accessibility but through the flexibility of the design which caters for the demands of anything from manufacturing to laboratories, small start-ups or the corporate HQs of global businesses.”
The master plan for the park has been approved by the Knowsley council’s planning committee last year.
Simon Waller, managing director of Stanley Estates, said: ‘We have been working closely with Ion in the master planning of this site and recognise the need for housing and employment in this area.
“Earlsfield Park is superbly located adjacent to Junction 2 of the M57 and commercial space of this size is in short supply and we foresee demand from both the Liverpool city region and the wider UK. Once developed it will deliver new and increased investment in the area.”
