Ken and Deirdre to tie the knot - again
Corrie's Ken Barlow proposes to ex-wife Deirdre - wooing her with promises of long term financial benefits.
10:54 07 January 2005
Corrie's Ken Barlow is not exactly oozing with romance when he proposes to ex-wife Deirdre - wooing her with promises of long term financial benefits.
It's not surprising then that Deirdre, played by Anne Kirkbride, 50, sends him packing.
But Ken, played by Bill Roache, 72, learns from his mistakes and proposes again on Valentine's Day.
This time he has more success and Deirdre, who he first married in 1981, says yes, the Daily Star reports.
The pair divorced in 1990 after she had an affair with Mike Baldwin.
"At first Ken totally blows it with the most unromantic marriage proposal in TV history," an insider told the newspaper.
"But he makes amends with the most gushing of speeches on Valentine's Day and wins Deirdre over."
