Supermodel Kate Moss is set to tie the knot after her boyfriend Jamie Hince made a surprise proposal on the star's birthday.

Using a diamond ring chosen with the help of her boss and friend, Topshop tycoon Philip Green, rocker lover Hince flew out to meet Moss  while she was working on Caribbean island Mustique and celebrating her 36th birthday and popped the question.

A source said: "Kate was stunned, Jamie called her up and told her not to come home. He said he was flying out to Mustique. He had carefully picked a ring and chose her birthday to propose. It was the first time they had been alone together in quite a while and it was extremely emotional."

"Kate and Jamie are in a very good place, they already live together and this is the next step to settling down for good."

The couple have been dating since 2007, just three months after finishing a turbulent two-year relationship with notorious bad boy Pete Doherty.

Friends are reported as saying that despite a string of rows, Hince has been a stabilising influence for the party-girl.

The Kills star is also said to get on well with Moss's eight-year-old daughter by ex-boyfriend Jefferson Hack, Lila Grace.
