Jake Moon is helping Chrissie Watts escape the strong arm of the law, and is likely to get away with his lawless exploits as he features heavily in future EastEnders plots.
The Walford wideboy, played by Joel Beckett, is giving the curly-haired husband-killer all the help he can as she tries to avoid going down for the murder of Dirty Den.
But whether or not Chrissie, played by Tracy-Ann Oberman, gets away with her crime, it seems that Jake will be around for some time to come.
An Albert Square mole told the Daily Star: "Joel has been told he will be receiving some top storylines and compelling scripts."
The leak added that Joel's cheeky character is set for a showdown with the newly-returned Mitchell brothers, Phil and Grant, as they clash with Jake's gangland boss Johnny Allen.
Before arriving in Walford, Joel played Dawn's dry boyfriend in Ricky Gervais' award-winning series The Office, but there seems little likelihood that he'll be swapping the Square for more satire in the near future.
