'Coronation Street' star Wendi Peters has revealed how she hit "rock bottom" after four failed attempts at IVF.
The actress, who plays little Chesney's mum Cilla in the long-running soap, bordered on depression when she thought she would never conceive.
Wendi, who is married to actor Kenny Linden, recalled: "We were devastated when we were first told that we couldn't have children. After a couple of years of nothing happening, I began to get very low and I just wanted to shut myself off from the world. We then realised it was about time we sought medical advice."
But, at first, it seemed even in vitro fertilisation would help the couple realise their dream of becoming parents.
Wendi told Britain's Hello! magazine: "With the first IVF treatment I was so excited because I had such hope in the procedure. But each time, nothing happened. I reached rock bottom emotionally."
However, on the fifth attempt, Wendi fell pregnant - and she is now the proud mother of five-year-old Gracie.
She gushed: "She's our little miracle."
