IoT Sensors Harvest Energy
Self-powered wireless IoT switches and sensors unveiled by EnOcean.
15:00 15 December 2017
EnOcean has unveiled IoT sensors that harvest their own energy. The firm’s new wireless switches and sensors use the energy harvesting technology allowing them to function without batteries and the need to be recharged repeatedly. The wireless sensor solutions are based on Bluetooth and the EnOcean wireless standard on the sub 1 GHz band.
The devices can be used in building automation, LED lighting control, smart homes and even industrial applications. When used with IoT systems, the devices have the ability to help users optimise the use of buildings and make them more energy-efficient.
EnOcean now offers wireless and self-powered Easyfit switches for Bluetooth light systems that can be commissioned by Near Field Communication (NFC). This allows flexible installation of lighting applications as well as simple and complex lighting scenes and effects.
