Canary Flex CCTV Review
Canary Flex Wirefree Outdoor Smart CCTV review.
15:02 15 December 2017
Canary Flex Wirefree Outdoor Smart CCTV (£199) is a premium looking product packed with useful features. When compared to other smart CCTVs in the market, the device is quite attractive, weighs less, and its overall build quality is superior. It also uses a built-in lithium-ion battery and can be used in wired or wire-free mode.
The device is all-in-one unit, making the process of setting it up relatively easy and simple. Installing it takes a little over five minutes, but the firmware update may take a little while.
Once set up, users are given an option to sign up for the £7.99 per month premium service. The free plan that comes with the device is sadly severely limited. It only includes 30-second clips and 1-day video history. It also does not come with two-way talk, desktop streaming, or unlimited downloads. In comparison, the Arlo basic plan offers seven days full recordings with 1GB limit.
The quality of both daytime and nighttime recordings are excellent for a 720p camera. When positioned properly, its motion detection feature works very well and leads to a few false recordings.
Its app can be more challenging to use when compared to Arlo and Blink. The app needs to wake the camera up and connecting to a live feed takes about 30 seconds.
