IoT is Key for Local Government Services
IoT-based technology is key to delivering local government services the efficient and most cost-effective way.

Every year, local governments across the country suffer from major budget cuts that forces them to constantly search for efficient and most cost-effective ways to deliver council services to residents. Residents, on the other hand, are getting more and more demanding calling for services to be made more convenient and for authorities to address economic, social and environmental issues in the community.
Funding issues often lead to a focus on competition rather than collaboration, with departments fighting for resources. Thus, change is necessary for communities to remain resilient and the best solution is taking advantage of available technology, including but not limited to Internet of Things (IoT).
To maximise available funding, councils need to direct more resources toward digital transformation to increase efficiency and optimising local government performance. By taking advantage of IOT, for example, local governments no longer need to separate workflows, assets, people and resources into separate categories as they can be connected seamlessly. This approach can pave the way in turning asset maintenance and management into a more proactive process for the councils. It would also help council to become more energy-efficient and provide better services that would benefit the community as a whole.
