The opening day arrives, and you open your website to the world expecting hundreds (or thousands) of visits.
But NOBODY visits your page.
Days, weeks go by, and your visit counter is practically zero.
Why is this happening to you?
Because opening your page is not enough: you also need to know how to generate web traffic to it.
Getting them to find you in the middle of the multitude of pages mass page creator wordpress that exist on the Internet is a daily struggle for which you will need to have a clear strategy.
That is why today I am going to teach you step by step how to put into practice the four main strategies that there are to generate web traffic if you have a page where you sell your products or services or a blog in which you write every week.
Generate web traffic with SEO positioning
The first strategy that you should take into account (and the one that will bring you more traffic and visits to your website) is to use SEO on your page.
SEO positioning is a series of strategies to improve your visibility or ranking in search engines such as Google, Yahoo or Bing.
I'm going to explain better what SEO positioning is with an example:
I need to find a web designer to improve my page. I go to Google (the most popular search engine), I type "web designer" to search for one and I get several results.
SEO positioning techniques are what will make some pages appear in the first results, and others in the last.
In the image below you can see that there are two pages that appear first on the first page:
Those two pages have been able to use SEO positioning to generate a lot of traffic and appear at the top of Google results.
However, the two pages in the following image surely do not use SEO - or do it poorly - and therefore appear as the last results of page 8 in Google:
Although it may seem silly, appearing in those first results is very important.
I'm sure that when you search for something on Google, you always click on the first results and rarely go to the second or third page to see which pages appear.
Now that you understand what SEO positioning is and why it is so important, I am going to teach you how to use it on your page or blog to generate web traffic and appear in the first Google results.
Step 1: Search for keywords related to your page
The first thing you should tell Google is what your page is about so that when you search for a topic related to your website, it appears in the results. And this you will achieve with the keywords.
- Keywords are terms related to the same topic.
Continuing with the previous example, if you are a web designer who has a page to provide these services, your keywords would be: web designer, web design, graphic designs make web page, logo design, create web...
You must analyze what is the theme of your page and look for related keywords. You can do this with the Google AdWords keyword planner.
You just have to register on this page (it's free), write your main keyword, click on "get ideas" and you will see many other related terms and how many times those words are searched in Google so that you have an idea of their popularity.
In the image above, the keyword with the most searches per month is "web design" (33,100 searches), and the next is "web designer" (2,400 searches). Once you have multiple keywords, go to the next step.
Step 2: Enter your keywords in your page titles and blog articles
Just looking for a few keywords is not enough: you have to enter them on your page or blog for Google to recognize them, appear in the first results, and generate web traffic.
To do this if you use WordPress to manage your page or blog, I recommend that you download and install the All in One SEO Pack plugin, which will place a box to enter your keywords at the end of each article in your post or page editor.
Once this is done, you must enter your keyword so that Google recognizes it on your page and that there are visitors who appear in the search results and go to your website (getting your traffic).
Since the article is about books for entrepreneurs, searching in Google Adwords the keyword would be that, "books for entrepreneurs."
- You must enter the keyword in:
The title: the title of the article of your blog or of the section of your web page must contain the keyword you have chosen.
The description: write a short description about your article or your page and include the keyword there. Try to make this description as attractive as possible so that when users read it on Google, they will be curious to read you and click on the result to go to your page.
Keyword: this box is the most important because it is where you must write your keyword (keyword in English); if you enter more than one keyword, separate them with commas, not periods.
In this way, when you publish that article or have your website already running, Google will know what keywords you have put in and, when someone types them in the search engine, your page will appear among the results.
This way you will be generating traffic to your website and little by little, as you receive more visits, your page will appear higher in the search results.
