Hill quits TV Burp?
Comedian to leave show after nine-year stint...
09:33 30 September 2011
Comedian Harry Hill has reportedly left his popular ITV show, TV Burp.
The 46-year-old is said to have left bosses in turmoil following his decision to leave the show after nine years.
According The Sun, father-of-three Harry turned down a staggering £1million pay rise, which would have brought his final pay-check to a huge £4m.
An ITV source told the newspaper:
"Harry kept telling people how much he hated doing it but they thought he was joking. He wasn't."
However, a spokesperson for the broadcaster said that Hill would be returning to the show for a further series in 2012, adding:
"We have a great relationship with Harry and look forward to this continuing."
In an interview conducted earlier this September, the comedian admitted that he was getting fed up of watching so much television, which was vital to prepare for the programme:
"I watch it all day and all night.
"I mean, it’s a very rigorous process and you have to put in the hours – that’s the only way you can make a good show. But it’s a brain fryer - it’s like an experiment."
Harry Hill's TV Burp has been well received by critics and the public alike, winning two BAFTAs in 2008 and another in 2009.
Hill's next project is rumoured to be writing material for Simon Cowell's X Factor musical, which is yet to be confirmed.
