Harrow Council to improve adult social care programme with advanced technologies.
10:19 16 January 2020
Harrow Council is turning to latest advanced technologies as it tries to meet increasing demands from its adult social care programme. The move follows a report by its scrutiny committee showing that the use of assistive technology can help people live independently longer.
Currently, there are two types of assistive technology that are being trialled in the borough by a total of 60 people. The results of the trials are expected to be presented to the local council early this year.
The council’s adult social care vision also includes plans to improve access to online information. Meanwhile, the scrutiny report noted that there is a potential to provide residents with more information and that better signposting will ensure this information is relevant to their needs.
However, Opposition Conservative have expressed their concerns about the growing influence of online resources and the impact this will have on the borough’s older population particularly those who struggle with the English language.
