Harrogate Broadband Surge During Lockdown
Broadband speeds in Harrogate slow down due to surge in usage.

Concerns over broadband speeds in Harrogate have been raised as usage surges during the coronavirus lockdown.
A spokesperson for TalkTalk said: "As more people are working from home and/or have multiple devices running, internet speeds are decreasing in the area, which is why it's important that FibreNation continues to build, giving more people access to this new network, which in turn alleviates some of the pressure from the old copper network."
TalkTalk engineers are currently working on installing full fibre in Bilton as part of the firm's FibreNation programme. The scheme aims to provide a network build of gigabit-ready fibre to an additional 50,000 homes and businesses by 2023.
Meanwhile, North Yorkshire County Council's executive member for access Councillor Don Mackenzie said that the council's own £15.1million full-fibre broadband is making good progress amidst the coronavirus crisis.
He said: "Our broadband company NYnet has received many update requests to cater to increased digital requirements. But work is continuing on our LFFN project, in accordance with Covid-19 guidance.
"Knaresborough High Street is getting LFFN fibre laid now. We have also offered our NHS client an upgrade to 24/7 continuous service free of charge."
