Hackable IoT Systems Could Put Families at Risk
Complex IoT systems can be easily hacked and could put your family at risk, a report warns.

A recent report on security threats posed by complex IoT environments released by Trend Micro claims that the use of a complicated network of smart devices and appliances can make your home more vulnerable to hackers and thieves.
The report, entitled Cybersecurity Risks in Complex IoT Environments, painted a picture of the future in which an entirely benign network of smart devices could be abused silently by hackers.
The report reads: "There are ways that an attacker can collect information about how the systems are configured and what automation rules control the house."
"An attacker would only have to look at the automation configuration file with the known devices, insert a new trusted device the attacker owns into this file, and add it to the smart lock automation logic."
"We conclude that IoT security is far from an easy problem to solve, but it is NOT an impossible one. The true challenge is trying to keep pace with the development of new IoT devices and the ever-evolving [complex IoT environment]."
