Gwarchod Bermo Watch plans to use the money to improve and maintain their community CCTV.
Deana Davies Fisher, the driving force behind the CCTV initiative, has confirmed that it is the second time that their group has won the grant. Explaining how they intend to use the money, she said: “Although £2,500 is a lot of money, you’d be amazed how quickly it disappears. We’ll spend over £1,000 of this replacing just one digital recording unit."
“We are hoping to make our CCTV network more comprehensive though and we’ll be putting up new cameras in black spots throughout the town.
“Although we’re very grateful to all those who support us, either financially or by voting for us, we would still like some guaranteed form of funding.
“The town council are very good in this regard and we’re also very grateful to Sam Jeffs for his hugely generous donation of £725 last year."
“We’re a band of volunteers and we do have a high success rate. It can take a lot of time and be a little tedious, but it’s like fishing isn’t it? You cast your net out, hope for a bite and then you’re delighted when you get one.”
