Google's Nest Promote OAP Independent Living
Google’s Nest to design new products to help seniors live independently for as long as possible.

Nest, a division of Google that sells home automation products, plans to come up with new devices that can help seniors live independently for as long as possible. The company has been reported to visit senior living facilities and experts in the ageing space with a pitch about incorporating Nest devices.
Some ideas that are currently being considered are using motion sensors that will automatically turn on lights in the middle of the night when people try to go to the bathroom and notifying carers of people who move around a lot in excessive heat and might be at risk of dehydration.
Based on recent figures, there are more than one million Americans in assisted-living facilities and the number is expected to double by 2030. Nest is also considering the development of products that will allow seniors to live independently in their own home. Some ideas are camera products that will allow family members to check in on their loved ones and smart locks that will grant access only to authorised individuals.
