17:47 14 December 2015
The Old Bell Inn in Saddleworth, Greater Manchester became a Guinness World Record holder for offering 400 varieties of gin last year. This year, it broke its own record for carrying 600 gin varieties.
The pub is called Thomas Dakin Manchester Gin, named in honour of Thomas Dakin, the first to create the first quality English gin in 1761.
The Old Bell owner Philip Whiteman said: “We’re really excited to have this join our gin family.
“It’s incredible to think that I have produced something that is unique in the world.
“We have accomplished something great that our customers can enjoy.”
Alix Walker, curator for Thomas Dakin gin said: “It’s an honour for Thomas Dakin to take its place in The Old Bell Inn’s infamous gin emporium.
“It seems fitting that this is the gin that has been chosen as 600th as it’s the gin that connects the old with the new, completing this already wonderful collection.”
A spokesman for Guinness World Records said: “We would not be here if it was not for the officially amazing people that continue to break records.
“Whether they break a record as an individual or a team we celebrate all of their achievements.”
