Get a great job, without a degree
16:00 30 March 2011
Think you need a degree to get anywhere in life? Well, you're wrong.
You can still earn good money without having a B and an A after your name and with a new survey revealing that three in four students worrying they will be unemployed when they finish their studies, you might be better off.
Here's our guide to the top jobs you can bag without a BA:
Police Officer
Becoming an Officer is somewhat of a long-winded process due to high application rates, but what you really need are basic GCSEs and a squeaky clean criminal record.
Being a Police Community Support Officer for a year before hand couldn't hurt either.
Fireman
A little relevant experience, GCSEs and a good overall fitness are vital for being a fire-fighter. If you've got what it takes, a career change might be in order for you.
Plumber
You don't need to be qualified to the hilt to become a plumber or to work in any trade for that matter.
You will however need to take some exams to prove you're not completely hopeless and to make sure you've learned all the vital skills you need.
Salesman
The key requirements in this career are a good personality and a thick skin.
Flexible hours and unlimited earning potential are some of the perks, but you need to be able to sell, sell, sell to make it big; it's all on you and there's no one to blame but yourself if you fail.
Occupational Therapist
If you genuinely enjoy helping people, this could be the ideal career for you.
Learning can be done on the job, via distance learning or at college and it's safe to say, it's one of the most rewarding jobs around.
