Full list: 2015 Oscar nominations released with Birdman soaring high
Leading the pack: Birdman – 9, The Grand Budapest Hotel – 9, The Imitation Game – 8, Boyhood – 6, American Sniper – 6, Whiplash – 5

The Oscar nominations have been released and two quirky dramedies are leading the parade: Birdman and The Grand Budapest Hotel, each with nine nominations this year.
Shut out were celebrated dramas such as acclaimed biopics Mr Turner, Big Eyes and Selma. Another surprise was the Best Picture, Actor and Screenplay showing for American Sniper - a film that has been somewhat overlooked in other awards. Due to his work as a producer on the film, Bradley Cooper racked up two nominations for Best Picture and Best Actor in Clint Eastwood's military drama.
The Oscars ceremony takes place on Oscars Sunday: Feb 22nd.
