Flying solo: 11-hour delay results in man having entire plane to himself

The Delta flight was due to take off at 7.15am but ended up being held until 6pm.Other flyers were diverted but a lone passenger was left on board.

A Delta flight was delayed for 11 hours meaning that by the time it took off, there was only one passengers left on board.

The New York-bound plane was hit by delay after delay throughout Monday and it didn’t take off until around 6pm that evening. By that time, passengers were already moved to another flights or re-booked their tickets. All but one remained.

Chris O'Leary was the only one on board with a full flight crew, who gave him a personal in-flight safety drill.

The media strategist from Brooklyn, was given updates about the ongoing delays via text, so he waited in his hotel until the flight was finally ready to leave.

Seconds before the plane takes off, another passenger was also picked up, effectively doubling the number of passengers from one to two travelers.

O'Leary told ABC: 'It was definitely the most memorable flight I've been on in recent memory... There were no screaming babies, no one listening to loud lyrics or reclining their seats or taking their shoes.'
