07:58 14 February 2022
Flintshire Council has launched a new campaign to raise awareness of responsible use of the internet and social media. The #FCCBeKindOnline, which was launched on 8 February, aims to end cyberbullying in our communities by encouraging rethinking online behaviour and embracing respect, empathy and kindness.
The campaign also promotes the safe and positive use of digital channels when communicating with council services.
Andy, the son of late Councilor Kevin Hughes, who suggested the campaign, said: “My dad suggested that Flintshire supports this campaign and he would be immensely proud to see that it has come to fruition. I pledge to carry on his work and continue to raise awareness of cyber-bullying and online abuse in my role as councillor.”
Councillor Ian Roberts, leader of the council said: “We have chosen Safer Internet Day 2022 to mark the launch of our campaign as this is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. It also aims to raise awareness about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively.”
