Faster YouTube Streaming
Did you know that video streaming does not happen in real-time as one would expect?

This is because technological challenges result in seconds-long delay or latency. Well, this could be a thing in the past as YouTube cuts latency to just a couple of seconds.
Beginning today, users have the option to choose YouTube’s “ultra-low latency” setting that ensures their stream is reaching viewers in real time. The new setting cuts the latency time from as high as 10 seconds to “just a couple of seconds” according to YouTube’s product manager for live videos Kurt Wilms.
He also said: “No awkward silence is the best way to describe what this feature enables.”
YouTube is also adding new comment moderation feature for live streamers, allowing creators to automatically filter comments that they deem as spam or abuse. They can also automatically block certain words and phrases from comments.
In addition, the company is updating its iOS app to be compatible with Apple’s ReplayKit, enabling iPhone users to stream videos directly to their YouTube channel. A similar feature already exists for Android.
