Facebook Style Streams on Google
Google to add Facebook-style news feed to its website and app.

Google will start adding Facebook-style newsfeed to its homepage to provide users content that they may be interested in before they search. The stories, features, videos and music are chosen based on the previous searches of the same user.
Google is also adding a “follow” button on search results to add topics of interest to their feed.
Since December, the giant search engine has been trialling a simple version of its new feed in its smartphone app.
Mattia Littunen, a senior research analyst at Enders Analysis, said that the move would help Google compete with its rivals.
"Google has a strong incentive to make search as useful as possible,"
"Facebook's news feed is one of its main rivals. It is competing with other ways of accessing content."
"Search ads are more lucrative than in-feed ads such as Facebook's,"
"Google's business is based on selling advertising, so this gives them more contact points with consumers."
"Google has a long term project of anticipating user needs. It's a move to make sure people aren't going elsewhere for information.”
