The stars of Emmerdale are ditching West Yorkshire and heading to the north-east. . . for a few days anyway.

Odd couple pairing Marlon and Bob, head chef and commis chef, are off to Newcastle to try and win the accolade of top pub chef of the north.

However, all is unlikely to run smoothly, as is the way in soapland, as the pair are followed up to the Tyne by female interests, Donna and Viv.

While one would logically go far further than Newcastle to get away from the screaming harpy that is postmistress Viv, she and Donna both feel they are being neglected by their other halves, and decide to do something about it.

With Marlon's lucky knife, Mack, stolen by Viv who then loses it, the cooking duo's chances of winning the competition already look slight.

These are later worsened when Marlon goes down to Newcastle police station to collect Mack from lost property, only to be thrown in the slammer after jokingly threatening to kill Viv with. Only jokingly.

However, it looks like the end of the road for Donna and Marlon, after she calls it a day on their relationship, leaving Marlon to decide between her and the competition.

Will Marlon and Bob win the contest? Will Bob and Viv stay together? Will Marlon and Donna make amends? Will Viv go down the Big Market on a Friday night? Let's hope not.
