Edinburgh WiFi Boost
Edinburgh WiFi to get big boost this holiday.
14:57 27 December 2017
Edinburgh residents and visitors will enjoy a stronger free wireless internet access between now and 1 January 2018; thanks to the partnership between the city council and IntechnologyWiFi.
Access points will be added throughout the city streets to allow people to share festive messages, videos and pictures with friends and family across the world without disruption.
Edinburgh council agrees that providing a stronger, more reliable internet connection is central to plans for growing the city economy. It encourages people to stay longer, which is key to increasing spending per head. Local businesses also benefit from extra visibility they get from a joint platform to reach people using the Intechnology WiFi points.
Charlie Wood and Ed Bartlama, directors of the Underbelly venue in Edinburgh, which produces the Christmas and New Year celebrations for the council, said: “Edinburgh is one of the world’s top winter destinations, and the enthusiasm of residents and visitors to share that with friends and family is fantastic. Having extra WiFi support in place will show the world that this is the place to be.”
