EastEnders to air its first ever flashback episode to clear up Lucy Beale's murder

Actress Hetti Bywater has returned as Lucy Beale to show viewers how her character came to her untimely demise.

EastEnders will broadcast its first ever flashback episode to show how Lucy Beale, played by actress Hetti Bywater, died. The show will retrace the events of Good Friday 2014 to reveal the killer and the reason for the murder.

Aside from Hetti Bywater, other actors who will return for the flashback episode are Jamie Lomas who will reprise the character of Jake Stone – one of the last to see Lucy alive. Tanya Franks will also return.

Hetti said it was “great to be part of the conclusion” while Jamie declared it “an honour and a privilege”. Tanya added: “It’s fab to be back.”

Meanwhile, show boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins said that the episode would be “the pearl” of the show’s 30th anniversary week in February.
