Eastenders: Spoiler alert!
Dramatic scenes to shock viewers in the new year...
11:10 15 November 2010
It has been reported that Ronnie Mitchell is to steal Kat Moon's baby in a dramatic Eastenders storyline due to air on New Year's Eve.
Ronnie is devastated when she loses her child to cot death and in a moment of panic she swaps her dead baby's body with Kat's newborn child.
Overcome with grief after finding out she has lost her baby, Ronnie brings the baby to the Queen Vic to tell her family. She then hears Kat's child crying upstairs and decides to switch the two.
The cot death will be the third time the character has lost a child.
Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood said: "Although EastEnders is a fictional drama we have, of course, taken great care to thoroughly research this storyline, which will reflect an issue close to the hearts of some of our audience.
"Viewers will know that Ronnie has had a difficult past, losing both her daughter and father in the last couple of years. When she loses the one thing she's always wanted, she acts on impulse in a moment of sheer grief and desperation."
Catch Eastenders Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings on BBC One.
