Items included a knife, screwdriver, drugs and a mobile phone. Prison staff were alerted to its presence when it became caught in the Prison’s perimeter barbed wire.
A spokesperson stated that the smuggling device and its contents are being examined and an investigation carried out.
According to the HM Inspectorate, preventing prohibited items from entering prisons, is one of the biggest problems the guards encounter.
Stricter regulations regarding drones are awaited from the government.
A 42 year old man who flew a drone over certain landmarks in London, without permission from the Civil Aviation Authority, is due to appear in court in April.
There is a concern that collisions with passenger planes could occur if the drones continue to fly without guidelines.
