Douglas Residents Permitted to Install CCTV in Homes

Tenants of Douglas Council properties are now allowed to install CCTV devices in their homes.

Douglas Council now allows tenants of council-owned properties to install CCTV and other home security devices in their homes. 

The local council clarified that residents were previously allowed to install such devices without permission raising the risk of breaching neighbours' privacy. 

The recently rolled-out policy will offer guidance to people and set out the legal requirements in line with GDPR laws. The local authority added that while any increase in security measures by tenants is positive, it will not be taking any responsibility for them.
