While CCTV cameras in Fenland recorded 1,157 incidents in 2022, just 9.8per cent resulted in police enforcement. 896 incidents took place in Wisbech as were the majority of CCTV-led fines and arrests. The town is home to 52per cent of Fenland's CCTV cameras.
According to official figures released by the local authority, March had the second highest number of incidents (185) and enforcements (24). Incidents captured on CCTV included criminal damage, violent crime, possession of weapons, theft and drug use.
A Fenland District Council report reads: "The 98 incidents that resulted in enforcement action highlights the work CCTV services do to support the council and partners in responding to crime and disorder and helping to make our communities safer,”
