A Google Search for the term “Dickeys bbq wiki” reveals the history of a good, old-fashioned barbecue joint that first opened its doors to public way back in 1941. There’s definitely a lot to like at the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, but their love for serving smoking beef, pork, ribs and things like that is what stands out.
A good barbecue is all about having the right balance, with the right amount of tenderness, sweetness, spice, smokeyness and maybe some vinegary punch. And the pitmasters at the Dickey’s barbecue pit use their skills and experience to make sure that smoker behind their kitchen turns out well-smoked bbq meat with just the right combo of deep flavors. No surprises, their food is remarkable with or without sauce, and tastes just great right down to the last bite.
After Roland Dickey Jr took over in 2006, they devised big expansion plans redefining the business model and grew from just 20 to over 500 locations nationwide in just twelve years time. And the juggernaut keeps rolling. After serving authentic Texas barbecue for many generations of people, the family-owned business has engineered a bbq movement to say the least. And it shows. The long lines of customers eager to get a taste of their favorites is a grand testament to the kind of loyalty this brand enjoys among barbecue lovers.
Having stamped its authority in the country, the Dickey’s Barbecue Pit team is now taking authentic Texas style BBQ to the world, keen to make a mark on the global map.
Partnering with a hospitality group in the Middle East, Serenity Hospitality, the Dickey’s family is going to open bbq joints at 45 different locations in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Lebanon. And the owners are hoping their new international joints bring their brand up yet another level. That shouldn’t be a big challenge considering the food and overall experience that a Dickey’s bbq pit is known to offer.
Customized for the UAE market, the menu at the Abu Dhabi Dickey’s features some of the regulars like the slow-cooked briskets smoked with imported hickory for 14 hours, beef sausages, marbled slabs of first-grade ribs with pink halos, smoked turkey and chicken etc. Also on the menu is an extensive list of sides, desserts and drinks with mac n cheese, barbecue beans, waffle fries, steamed vegetables and salad proving to be quite popular with the local people.
Hungry for more, the brand is now aiming to push for an international expansion in Canada during fall this year with 20 stores planned for different areas spread across the country mainly Calgary, Edmonton etc. The brand has been successful in finding the right operators and partners for their franchises. With the passion to prepare and serve authentic barbecue food intact, the brand remains pretty committed to serving quality real Texas style barbecue food to different cultures throughout the world with the help of hard-working franchisees.
