Devon has become the unlikely location for many burgeoning new businesses in the science and tech industries. Many of these businesses can be found at the Exeter Science Park, which now hosts many regional offices of multi-nationals and small start-ups that specialise in technical testing, renewable energy, and everything in between. Two new additional high-end businesses are currently being built at the park with the help of £1.7 million of council investment.
To make the district even more attractive to business owners, East Devon District Council is investing in new public transport services and commits to improving existing infrastructure to unlock up to 10,000 new jobs in close proximity to Exeter Airport.
The council’s efforts to make the district more attractive to organisations have won Lidl’s business, which has chosen Exeter Gateway Business Park as its location for its largest warehouse.
Mark Henry, Lidl’s regional director, said: “The South West is an important region for Lidl and it’s an area where we’ve experienced particularly strong growth. We remain committed to creating high-quality jobs for the communities we serve and this new centre gives us another great opportunity to do just that.”
