Cymru Superfast Braodband Scheme Ends
The Superfast Cymru scheme, which has brought fibre broadband to large parts of Newtown has officially ended.

However, fibre and 4G still remain inaccessible in some parts of the town. To address the issue, Newtown Town Council is expected to set up a task group to look into plans for a WiFi network to allow access for residents, businesses and visitors.
Similar networks are already being used in other towns as an alternative to cellular and even copper or fibre networks.
The task group is more likely to be established by the council’s economy and environment committee. Details of the scheme are expected to be discussed on Monday.
