Cornwall Council launches an event allowing residents to take virtual reality cycle tours around Newquay.

Newquay Futures Project has teamed up with local organizations for the launching of an event that will allow people to take virtual reality cycle tours around Newquay. Using “cutting-edge” gaming technology, participants will have the opportunity to view what the town could look like in the future. 

A council spokesperson is encouraging participants to cycle around the town using the latest in virtual reality headset and provide feedback on ideas being presented. 

The scheme, which is funded by the local government, is geared towards raising investment for the further development of the town centre. 

Olly Monk, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for planning, said: "Instead of looking at artists' impressions of potential changes, they can view them for themselves in this immersive experience, getting a real insight into the difference they will make. 

"We want people of all ages to help shape the future of their town and I hope this innovative approach will encourage more residents to have their say."
