Well, luckily for you we are here to tell you about Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, a multiplayer first-person shooter game created by the iconic Hidden Path Entertainment- it offers a scintillating mix of action, drama, shootouts, and high-octane fun for fans of the eGaming genre.
First developed in 2012, it is the fourth game in the Counter Strike series and has been released on Microsoft, Apple, Linux, Xbox, and PlayStation meaning that whatever your vehicle of choice, you can enjoy the game with ease. If you are new to the game, don’t worry- there are some great sites offering CSGO guides to help you get started!
The premise of the game is two competing teams - terrorists, and counter-terrorists, that are battling to eliminate each other whilst carrying out various other tasks within the game. Basically, the terrorists are tasked with planting a bomb or protecting hostages, whilst the counter-terrorists are tasked with rescuing the hostages, or preventing the bomb from being planted. With six highly unique and individual game modes, it is a game that you will never get bored off because it will be sure to keep you hooked. The best mode in my mind is the Competitive mode which is by far the most challenging and hardcore. Players are put into five-versus-five tournaments that take 45 minutes to complete and for me, it is the most fun!
At the beginning of each level/round the players have the opportunity to buy as much weaponry, ammunition, and supplies as they can with the money they have been awarded based on their performance in the previous round. Every time a round is won, you win more money whereas bad behaviour or failure can result in penalties and losses.
This game is much more strategical than others in the series and requires a much higher level of thought, planning, and skill as opposed to just shooting and hoping for the best. It requires a lot of thought and concentration in order to be successful, but many players really like this fact about the game.
The games popularity and cult following has led to several international competitions and tournaments being organised. These are called majors and are sponsored by Valve with prize money reaching as much as $250,000! Some tournaments have drawn as many as 10,000 people to big stadiums where mega screens show the game action unfolding in real time. The next big event is being held in Krakow, Poland in July of this year!
The game has received incredibly positive reviews since its release and it has been lauded for its amazing gameplay and it’s easy to use interface. But don’t just take our word for it, why not give it a go?
