Cross' desperate hunger pain

Marcia Cross says the most difficult part of starring in hit show 'Desperate Housewives' is staying thin - because she loves eating so much.

The flame-haired beauty, who plays neurotic Bree Van De Kamp in the series, has been desperate to gorge on food since accepting the role.

She revealed: "For me, not eating is a constant struggle. It's like they pay me not to eat. It's a living hell."

Meanwhile, the sexy actress has confessed she is nothing like her screen persona - and is far from obsessively tidy.

She added in an interview with Britain's Grazia magazine: "My house is very messy."

Last month, Marcia said after working on 'Desperate Housewives' she could understand why some celebrities crack up.

The actress - who was recently at the centre of false rumours claiming she was a lesbian - revealed: "Being well-known, it is a little nutty. You can see why people go cuckoo. You can be so infantilised as an actor because all your needs are met.

"Suddenly it went round the world that I was a lesbian, based on an internet rumour. And I had no interest in responding because I don't care what people think. I don't need to discuss or defend my sexuality in public."
