The mother of Daniel Pelka and her partner have been found guilty of murdering four-year-old Daniel. The trial was at Birmingham Crown Court.
Daniel, who had been beaten and starved, died as a result of a head injury early last year.
Magdelena Luczak, Daniel’s mother, who is 27 years old, had denied murdering her son, but as stated in one report by the BBC she said through her counsel she was guilty of causing or allowing Daniel’s death.
Her partner Mariusz Krezolek, aged 34, denied murder and causing or allowing the boy’s death.
As referred to in one report by The Independent, Daniel’s weight was less than 11kgs at the time of his death.
It is understood that Daniel’s mother and her partner covered certain things up by saying the four-year-old had an eating disorder.
It is understood Magdelena Luczak and Mariusz Krezolek, who were heavy drinkers and took certain drugs, said that each other was to blame for Daniel’s death. However, it became clear they operated together.
Daniel’s biological father Eryk Pelka said in a statement: “It’s a great tragedy that such a little angel had to leave this world. I hope that those responsible will be punished severely.”
Magdelena Luczak and Mariusz Krezolek are expected to be sentenced on Friday.
