Coronation Street's Claire Peacock tries to commit suicide after losing her unborn baby.
Claire, played by Julia Haworth, attempts to throw herself off the roof of the hospital after she recovers from her operation to have a blood clot removed.
Fortunately her doting husband Ashley (Steven Arnold) runs to save her just in time as she stumbles at the edge of the building.
He tells her:"Claire, Claire, what are you doing? Please get away from the edge. What would the boys and me do without you?"
Gripped with depression Claire hysterically replies: "Do you see everybody out there Ashley? They're normal people getting on with their lives.
"People being born, people bringing their kids up, eating their breakfast and just happily doing everyday things. Why can't I be normal Ashley? Why can't I be normal?"

Claire begs him: "Please don't let them take me away Ashley I feel a lot better now we've talked about everything."
His eyes filled with tears, Ashley explains their situation telling police: "I'm sorry officers if we've caused any trouble.
"We've just lost our baby and I wanted to tell my wife that I understand what she's been through."
