Corrie set for Hindu wedding

Dev and Sunita will wed in true Hindu style.

Some eastern flavour will come to the north-west next month when Corrie couple Sunita and Dev tie the knot.

After a string of failed romances and tragic storylines the pair finally came together earlier this year.

Now that Sunita has recovered from her life-threatening illness and Dev has overcome his Deirdre fixation, Coronation Street is braced for the wedding of the year.

"This is the first Hindu wedding in the Street's history and probably in British soap," a spokesman for Grenada told the Daily Mail.

The writers have pulled out all the stops to make their wedding as authentic as possible.

Viewers will see Sunita in a glitzy red sari, while her groom will arrive in ceremonial dress on a white horse.

Grenada has even built a mock temple on its set to host the wedding.

"It's a very lavish creation, which has had a lot of time, money and effort spent on it," the spokesman added.
