Former X Factor contestant Cher Lloyd had to walk off the stage during the V Festival on Sunday after a member of the audience threw a bottle of urine at her.
The incident occurred just as the teenage singer was beginning her second song. The festival was held at Chelmsford, Essex.
Like a pro, however, Cher came right back onstage after she had composed herself. Even though her management advised her to skip the gig for her safety, the singer was determined to finish her performance for the sake of fans that really wanted to see her.
Upon re-entering the stage, she said: “It’s hard enough being up here, but it’s not nice having bottles of p**s chucked at you.”
This didn’t keep revelers from throwing more bottles, which eventually convinced Cher to end the set early.
A spokesman for the singer said: “It’s a real shame that a few individuals spoiled the gig for all the other fans in the audience.”
Cher herself took to Twitter to voice her thoughts on the matter. She remained in a positive mood for her loyal fans. Her tweet read: “Thank you so much for all the nice messages, shame that a couple of people had to ruin it. Unfortunately, a glass bottle got thrown at me onstage.”
She ended on an optimistic note: “Tomorrow is another day, big love to my brats! Xx”
