Nine out of ten bank users still demand chequebooks, according to new research.
A recent survey conducted by Leeds & Holbeck Building Society found that ninety per cent of people rate a chequebook as very important or quite important when choosing an account.
"This shows that the chequebook is still valued by the UK saver," says senior media officer at the society Daniel Jones. "It is seen as a trusted and secure way of paying for goods or services, even by today's hi-tech investors."
He added: "People know where they are with the chequebook. People shopping at online sites such as eBay, like to send a cheque to the purchaser as they offer some degree of protection."
