Changes You Can Make to Live More Sustainably
If you care about the environment, you're probably aware of the waste that is happening all around us.

While you're writing letters to pressure governments and corporations to adopt more eco-friendly practices, you can also take steps to live more sustainably yourself. Below are some areas you can consider making changes in to achieve that.
Transportation
There are many different ways to be more responsible about how you use transportation. Of course, the most low-impact thing you could do is live close enough to work and other things that you need that you could walk and cycle everywhere, but even if this is not possible, there is plenty you can do to cut back on your footprint in how you get from place to place. You could get an electric or hybrid vehicle, or you could primarily use public transportation. Some people pledge to stop flying although this is impractical for many people. You could simply make an effort to take fewer trips in your car, combining errands, or you could carpool to work.
Personal Habits
As is the case with transportation, look at your personal habits to see where you could make more sustainable changes. Some people switch to a more plant-based diet. Others may decide to cut back on their use of water and utilities. If you smoke, you could consider using a vaporizer instead. You can look for the top overall in a guide of the best dry herb vaporizers for 2021. Cutting back on your use of plastic, avoiding food waste and buying used items rather than new ones all the time are also ways to be more eco-friendly in your personal habits.
Community
You could also push for more eco-friendly practices in your community. For example, if there is no recycling program, you could push to get one. You could also see about starting a community garden in your neighborhood. If there are candidates running for county or city council to represent your area, find out where they stand on environmental issues and convey your concerns to them.
Home
You could begin by making sure that your home is as energy efficient as possible and doing any necessary upgrades if it is not. If available, you could also switch to more eco-friendly energy sources like creating a whole house ventilation system for sustainable living. If you happen to be building your home, there is a whole spectrum of sustainable housing you might consider, from a traditional but green home to the far more unconventional cob houses or earth ships. Before you begin any big building or renovation projects, be sure to check into local codes and regulations.
Career or Lifestyle Changes
You may feel so passionately about the environment that you want to make major changes to your career or lifestyle. For example, you might want to go back to school to study conservation or environmental education. Alternately, you might decide that you want to live partly or fully off the grid. These are big leaps, but they are also ones that people take every year, and there is a wealth of information about how to do either of them if they interest you.
