Callington Town Council works with local police to enhance CCTV camera provision.

Callington Town Council is working towards reducing persistent anti-social behaviour in the area by enhancing CCTV camera provision. They have invited local police officers to their finance and general purposes meeting scheduled next week to discuss resetting the town’s 15 CCTV cameras for better coverage. The move comes after increased incidents of anti-social behaviour around town.
Town clerk Helen Dowdall said: ‘Back in April/May we had a spate of really petty incidents — a sapling was planted outside the council offices on a Friday and it was snapped on the Saturday, a TV was dumped at the bus shelter and glass bottles were smashed around the play equipment in Saltash Road — silly things. We want to work with the police to decide how best to enhance the camera facilities around the town.’
Cllr Mike Tagg, elected police liaison officer for Callington Town Council, said: ‘We are determined to work in a multi-agency capacity to reduce crime and protect our taxpayers. Between us and the police, we have zero tolerance to such anti-social behaviour and we’ll tackle this head on.’
