Caine's 'EastEnders' dream

Hollywood star Michael Caine reportedly wants a role in 'EastEnders'.

The 72-year-old 'Get Carter' actor says he would love a part in the successful British soap opera.

And the actor - who has starred in a string of hit movies in a career spanning almost half a decade - even has the help of old friend Barbara Windsor, who is vowing to get him a part in the soap.

The 68-year-old actress - who recently returned to Walford to reprise her role of Peggy Mitchell - is quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "I'd adore Michael to come in."

A BBC spokesman said TV bosses would love to talk about adding the actor to the 'EastEnders' cast, saying: "We'd be delighted to hear from Mr Caine."
