Britney Spears came out to take part in the We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston to pay her own tribute to the late singer.
Britney, who looked grey in a tight grey dress, described the show as a ‘solemn’ occasion and that fiancé Jason Trawick was ‘doing his best to put a smile on my face’. She revealed that a rendition of Houston’s I Have Nothing when she was just a teenager landed her a record deal and set her on the path toward becoming a singer.
The X Factor judge posted a snap of her and Jason together backstage on Twitter and captioned it: “Backstage at The Whitney Houston Tribute”.
Hours before the photo was posted, she also tweeted about her excitement at being part of the show. “"Getting ready for the Whitney GRAMMY Salute right now - sounds like it's going to be an incredible event!”
Other stars who came out to remember the late diva included Usher, Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson, Cece Winans, and Yolanda Adams. The concert was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
It began with an emotional introduction given by Oscar winner Halle. The show was watched by a crowd of Whitney Houston fans as well as her close family and friends including daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, sister-in-law Pat Houston, and music mogul Clive Davis.
