Bradford City Centre 5G Mast Approved

Bradford City Council approves plans to install a 20-metre 5G phone mast in the city centre.

Bradford City Council has approved proposals to install a 20-metre 5G mast at the Broadway Shopping Centre entrance on Hall Ings. 

 

Three submitted the proposals for the 5G mast to the city council in July to meet the "acute need for a new mast to deliver the required community coverage." Based on the proposal, the mast will include an equipment cabinet on the public highway between Frankies and the car park entrance. The application was not a planning application but a prior notification, which meant that it could only be refused on specific safety and heritage concerns. 

 

Earlier this summer, the council has raised concerns when the company filed an application to install a similar mast outside the National Science and Media Museum. Council officers said that the appearance of the mast would be detrimental to a number of nearby heritage assets - including the Bradford War Memorial. Three subsequently withdrew the application.
