The Sun has reported that Chris Evans and Billie Piper's marriage is on the rocks and that the two have been living apart for almost two months.

Ms Piper, a former teen pop sensation is said to be living alone in Cardiff, where she is currently filming a new version of the cult Dr Who series. Multi-millionaire and former radio DJ, Chris Evans is in Los Angeles pursuing a US television career.

"They have drifted apart. They are very sad. But no one else is involved", a friend of the pair told the Sun.

""Billie has been throwing herself into her acting career recently. For a while when she married Chris she didn't really do anything other than spend time with him."

"They both took a year off to just go on holiday and enjoy their wealth. For a while they were both happy with that but eventually they wanted to get back to work," the unnamed source added.

Reports suggest that the couple have admitted that they are considering a trial separation in a bid to save their four year marriage.

Cynics have frequently predicted that the marriage will fail due to the 16 year age gap between the stars. Ms Evans first met her future husband when she was 15 and married the controversial former DJ at the age of just 18.
